Club Workspace @ Hackney House: Digital Shoreditch’s Creative Tech Day

Hackney House played host to Digital Shoreditch’s Creative Tech Day on Monday 30th, and we were delighted to see the day unfold from the comfort of our PopUp Club Workspace! If you hadn’t already heard, there is a mini Club Workspace in-situ at Hackney House. We’ve set up a popup Club that will remain at Hackney House for the next fortnight’s events. Therefore, if any visitors to Hackney House need to chillout and check their emails, we’re right there waiting!

Today saw Digital Shoreditch and Hackney House came together to organise creative tech day. In a speech given from the Hackney House stage, Andrew Humphries, Tech City Champion, explained the importance of the convergence of technology and creativity. When bleeding-edge tech meets creative originality, East London’s startups turn into companies recognised the world over.

As well as the presentations from the stage, and workshops from a seminar space in the far corner, Creative Tech Day played host to an entire Hackney-House-worth of exhibition stands. After the show stopped, we went around and spoke to a few techies and startups whose ideas interested us. There were scores of commentworthy tech ideas, but here’s three that tickled our fancy:

StartUpStay

StartUpStay is the entrepreneurs’ travel community. This innovative startup wants to change the way that entrepreneurs trot the globe. Their online platform enables startups to find likeminded businesspeople abroad who could host them during their business trips. StartUpStay claim that their platform allows entrepreneurs to cement and develop international business relationships, whilst avoiding travel costs. Check them out!

Nieku

Nick from Nieku charmed his way into our hearts by giving us a free bag of sweets! However, Nick’s bounty of confectionary was only the prelude to a very interesting website-building startup. Nick and his business partner work with students from their alma-mater to develop excellent, easy-to-maintain websites for small businesses. By doing so, they not only provide startups with sophisticated web-solutions, but also give something back to their uni.

Tech City Insider

Soon you will be able to read tech-land’s newest publications, the Tech City Insider, via your iPad. There will be a multimedia mix of video, audio and written content, all on the subjects important to tech entrepreneurs and startups. Have a look at their site for a piece about Hackney House!

So there you have it, Digital Shoreditch’s Creative Tech Day: blogged! See you all soon, in the mean time, take a virtual wander around Club Workspace
